Malmo, Sweden/malmo19

Previous | Home | Next

This wall map shows the plan of Malmö shortly after the time of Scheele. The orientation of the map is rotated: north (N) is down; south (S) is up (Ö = öst = east; V = väst = west). Stortorget, Lille Torget (little square), Drottning torg, and Gustaf [sic] Adolfs torg all still exist. The legend at the bottom defines "Urspringliga kvarter" = "original blocks, and "Föreslagna kvarter" = "proposed blocks." Hence, Scheele's pharmacy was, at the time, on the southern outskirts of Malmö, probably on the edge of unclaimed swamp.
